I'm very excited about this show because I'll be exhibiting completely new work. This is the newest series that evolved originally from the fires that happened in Northern Nevada and California the summer of 2006. The paintings soon outgrew the original concept of "fire," and began to demand their own thesis. I believe that the paintings (or mixed media pieces as I am now calling them) drew me in a completely new direction, one that is a little scary. While these paintings are abstract, they are still strongly based in landscape reference. It is possible, always, to discern a horizon line, the edge of a cloud, some kind of movement of atmospheric agitation. I am thoroughly enjoying using alternative mediums to create these paintings and hope you enjoy the journey of The Blind Leading the Blind as much as I do.
